The lyrical meaning is, he knows he will pass away soon and that losing a loved one is terrible. But later after The Rev’s passing, the band changed the name to Fiction because of a quote he had tattooed on his chest that stated “Life is like fiction, if I told somebody about the events in my life they wouldn’t believe me.” The Rev was the drummer in numerous bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, Successful Failure, and Pinkly Smooth, to name a few.
